Orkney Science Festival, 2005 — Stromness Library, Orkney

Exhibited during the Orkney International Science Festival, Wedded transformed the exhibition room at Stromness Library into a personal reflection on union, lineage, and shared experience. Labels were pinned to Matilda’s wedding dress and Christopher’s suit, each inscribed with hand-drawn portraits of the Christil Trumpet family, their ancestors, and other formative people, places, plants, and pets.

Blurring the boundaries between science, art, and ritual, the work explored connection and inheritance through intimate, handcrafted detail. Visitors and wedding guests were invited to contribute by creating flowers for the ceremony, extending the sense of collaboration and community at the heart of Christil Trumpet’s practice.
